About the client

A boutique network built on trust.

ProStar SEO's client is a family-owned erotic retail network with boutiques across Quebec, alongside a bilingual Shopify store carrying dozens of brands and more than 1,000 products. Its positioning is closer to a wellness destination than an adult store, built on judgment-free service, expert advice and total discretion.

Primary goal

Grow non-branded organic visibility on commercial category searches, in French and English

The challenge

A strong brand, invisible categories.

The client had the brand recognition to win on its own name, but almost nothing working for it on the searches where customers compare stores and products. Most of its organic traffic came from people who already knew it.

  • Collection pages with no content. 214 category pages (107 per language) displayed an H1 and a product grid, nothing else. The pages where commercial searches land had nothing for Google to rank.
  • No English search presence. The English site mirrored the French one page for page, but had no search history. On day one, the only English keywords ranking were a handful of local “sex shop” queries.
  • Internal linking in one place only. The homepage was the only page passing authority to the collections. Category pages didn't link to each other or to anything else.
  • A sensitive category. Adult products face tight advertising restrictions, which makes organic search the main acquisition channel. Content also had to stay informative, inclusive and judgment-free, in Quebec French rather than European French.

Goal

Turn the collection pages into ranking assets, build an English presence from zero, and grow non-branded visibility across Quebec, without diluting the brand's warm, inclusive voice.

The strategy

An approach in four moves.

To turn a large, thin catalogue into a search asset, ProStar SEO deployed a four-part strategy, rolled out in three waves between June and September 2026.

01.

Client and competitor analysis

Auditing the brand voice, mapping the full 312-page site inventory in both languages, and benchmarking each target keyword against the pages already ranking for it. Every page was built on a measured term list and density target, not guesswork.

02.

Collection page content, in three waves

Writing and integrating 21 pages: high-intent collections (masturbators, vibrators, prostate stimulators, lingerie, dildos, lubricants, BDSM), brand collections (Womanizer, We-Vibe) and city pages for Montréal, Laval and Québec. Wave 1 went live in late June, wave 2 in July and August, wave 3 in September.

03.

Homepage rework and internal linking

Rebuilding the homepage in July with a keyword-structured content block that links into every collection. This spread authority across the entire catalogue, including collections that hadn't yet been rewritten.

04.

Bilingual build, French and English

Adapting every page to Quebec French vocabulary and to the brand's inclusive, tutoiement-first voice, then building English versions to give the English site its first category rankings.

The results · September 2026

Collections that finally rank.

Three months after the first wave, the site grew across every KPI, with the sharpest gains on the collection pages we worked on. Through the homepage's internal links, the SEO work also contributed to lifting collections we hadn't rewritten yet: a rising tide lifts all boats.
