How the Free AI Visibility Audit Works

The request form above is the whole AI visibility checker on your side: your website, your business name, what you sell, and an email address. You check AI visibility once, for free. No signup. No AI visibility tool to learn, no dashboard, no free trial that turns into an invoice.

Our AI tracker writes the fifteen questions for your category, asks them live, and the report is built from the raw answers. It takes a few hours instead of fifteen seconds because the models answer at their own pace; we promise it within one business day. When we work together, the questions stop being sampled: we write twenty with you, in your words and your markets, and track them month after month.

Request Your Report With the Form Above

  1. Enter your website and your brand name as a customer would say it.
  2. Tell us what you sell and where, in one line (for example “injury law firm, Phoenix” or “hemp beverages, US”).
  3. Add your email. The free AI visibility report goes there.
  4. Send it. Our AI tracker writes fifteen buyer questions from your website, and the capture starts.

Agencies are welcome. Request the check for a client domain and the report goes to your address.

Fifteen Buyer Questions Asked to ChatGPT, ChatGPT Search and Google AI Overviews

Our AI tracker writes the fifteen buyer questions from your website and your category: the buyer prompts a person types into an AI assistant before choosing a provider. “Who are the best injury lawyers in Phoenix?” “Which hemp beverage brands ship to Texas?” “Is [your brand] legit?” Those prompts go to three AI models, asked from the United States.

ChatGPT answers from the model’s own knowledge, the way most people use it. ChatGPT Search takes the same question with live web search on. Google AI Overviews is the AI answer at the top of Google search results.

Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Google AI Mode sit outside the free audit. We add them in the paid AI visibility tracking program when a client needs them.

Live Answers, Not a Modeled AI Visibility Score

Every answer is captured live on the day of the audit. Nothing comes from a database of stored prompts. Nothing is estimated from your site’s signals.

One live run is a snapshot. Two runs of the same question rarely return the same brand list, so the report prints who each model named, question by question, rather than an AI visibility score. A number out of 100 would hide the only thing that matters: which names the model gave, and why.

What the AI Visibility Report Shows

The AI search visibility report is a grid: fifteen questions down, three models across. Each cell says whether your brand was named and which competitors were recommended instead. Below the grid come the competitors named instead, the cited sources and the page types behind them, and a short list of where to act first.

The format borrows from our free SEO audit, which compares your page with Google’s top five for a keyword. Same idea, applied to AI answers.

Named or Not: Your Brand and the Competitors AI Recommends Instead

The report counts how many of the forty-five answers name you, per model, and how many cite your site as a source. Next to that, it ranks every business the models recommend instead, by number of answers that name it, with yours at the top of the list for comparison. That is your share of voice, read directly from the AI responses, with no sentiment analysis layered on top. Software, platforms and directories are left out of the competitor list.

Cited Sources and the Page Types Behind Each Answer

ChatGPT Search and Google AI Overviews cite their sources. The report lists the domains they cite most and the share of each page type behind the citations:

  • review platforms and business listings
  • directories and “best of” comparison pages
  • a competitor’s own service page
  • a Reddit thread or a YouTube video

The pattern tells you which page types earn the citation in your category. A law firm usually finds directories and review platforms. A software brand finds comparison pages and third-party mentions.

Only the ChatGPT model without search gives no citations. There, the grid shows whether it names you and who it names instead.

The Questions Nobody Owns and Where to Act First

Some of the fifteen questions return no local brand at all: the model hedges, lists national chains, or answers with generic advice. Those are the questions nobody owns, high-intent and unclaimed. They are the cheapest AI visibility gaps to close, because one well-built page can become the cited source.

The last section of the report ranks the recommendations, the next steps in order: the questions where a competitor wins on a page type you can publish first, then the unowned questions.

Why Cited Pages Matter More Than Brand Mentions

Most AI visibility tools stop at counting mentions. ProStar connects each AI answer to the pages that earned the citation, then measures those pages. Large language models and answer engines cite pages that cover a topic in the market’s own vocabulary, and that coverage can be measured. The measurement is contextual density: keyword variations, entities and topic terms as a share of a page’s meaningful words.

Contextual Density of the Cited Pages vs Yours

For the most cited pages in your report, we measure contextual density in the strategy call and compare it with the page on your site that should have been cited. The gap is usually plain. The cited page names dozens of entities your page never mentions. Our SEO Contextual Density Index applies the same instrument to whole agencies, and the method behind it is the one our writers use every day.

The comparison turns “we are invisible to ChatGPT” into a page-level fix list. Market vocabulary is the set of terms the cited pages share; your page either covers it or it does not.

Entities, Keyword Variations and the Knowledge Graph

Entities are the names a model can resolve. Products, places, organizations, people, standards. We pass the cited pages and yours through the Google Natural Language API and keep the entities that carry a Knowledge Graph ID. A page whose brand entity, product category and location all resolve in the Knowledge Graph is easier for an AI model to repeat with confidence.

Keyword variations matter for the same reason. The model has to match the buyer’s wording to yours. This is the part of generative engine optimization (GEO, or answer engine optimization if you prefer the AEO label) that traditional SEO already taught us. Most AI visibility checkers skip it.

Ahrefs, Semrush, HubSpot: How Other Free AI Visibility Tools Compare

The free AI visibility tools ranking for this search do three different jobs, and marketing teams often want more than one: an AI visibility tracker for the trend, a readiness scanner for the site, and a live check for the answers. The Ahrefs AI visibility checker, powered by Brand Radar, reads a database of search-backed prompts and shows total AI mentions, mentions by AI platform, top cited domains and cited pages, instantly and with no signup. Its AI visibility data comes from stored answers, not a fresh run.

The Semrush AI visibility toolkit and the HubSpot AEO Grader each produce a brand visibility score. SEO Review Tools adds brand awareness and credibility ratings across Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude.

Database Lookups and Brand Visibility Scores

Database lookups answer one question: has a model mentioned this brand in stored answers? They are fast, cover many AI platforms, and favor brands with a large footprint. Birdeye’s free visibility checker, built for local businesses and multi-location brands, runs themes and prompts against ChatGPT and returns an AI visibility score with citations and competitor insights.

Honeyb asks one live question for free, then sells a workspace that reruns buyer questions daily across up to eight AI engines, with share of voice and citation share per source. What none of them do is open the cited page and measure it. ProStar’s report is slower because it waits for live answers instead of reading a database, and keeps every answer in full.

Site Readiness Scanners: robots.txt, llms.txt and Structured Data

Arobis and similar readiness scanners never ask an AI model anything. They crawl your homepage and grade crawler access (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended in robots.txt), structured data in JSON-LD, an Organization schema, a meta description, and whether you publish a machine-readable llms.txt file.

Those checks are useful, and our free SEO audit runs most of them, including AI crawlers blocked in robots.txt. A readiness score tells you whether a model can read you. Only a live question tells you whether it recommends you.

From the AI Visibility Audit to AI Search Visibility Work

The audit is the first step, not the product. ProStar’s AI SEO agency team takes the report and does the work: rewriting the pages that should be cited, publishing the comparison pages and FAQ content the models quote, and earning third-party mentions on the sources the report surfaced. Everything runs on monthly SEO pricing with thirty days’ notice to cancel.

Fix the Pages the AI Models Already Cite

The fastest AI search visibility gain comes from a page the models already see. If ChatGPT Search cites your service page but names a competitor first, the fix is on that page: cover the market vocabulary, name the entities, answer the buyer question in the first two sentences.

Our SEO content writing services rewrite to the contextual density of the cited pages. Our technical SEO agency handles crawler access, schema markup and the llms.txt file.

Earn Mentions Where ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity Read

When the cited sources are review platforms, directories or comparison pages you do not control, the work is digital PR and listings. Our link building services place your brand on the exact domains the report lists as cited. We also keep your Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, G2 and Crunchbase descriptions saying the same thing, because AI models trust authoritative sources that repeat each other.

Results show in the rerun. The same fifteen questions are captured again after the work ships, next to the AI referral sessions in GA4 and the AI Overview impressions in Google Search Console.

Free AI Visibility Checker FAQ

Is This an LLM Visibility Checker for ChatGPT Only?

No, although it works as a ChatGPT visibility checker if that is all you need. The free AI visibility check covers ChatGPT, ChatGPT Search and Google AI Overviews, so you see one model answering from its own knowledge, the same model with web search, and Google’s AI answer. LLM visibility on Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek is part of the paid tracking program.

How Long Does the Free AI Visibility Audit Take?

One business day, usually a few hours. The models answer the forty-five captures at their own pace, and some answers land late; the report is assembled once they have. Requests sent on a Friday evening can arrive over the weekend or on Monday (Eastern time).

Can I Check My Competitors’ AI Brand Visibility?

Yes, every competitor the models recommend appears in the report, named or not, because the share of voice column lists all of them. In the paid program you choose which rivals are tracked, on your own questions, every month.

Why Does the Report Show No AI Visibility Score?

Because a visibility score hides the answer. Two runs of the same prompt return different brand lists, and a single number out of 100 reads as precise when it is not. The AI visibility report shows the raw grid, the cited pages and the questions to act on first instead. That is what you can act on.

Which Prompts Do You Use?

The free audit samples fifteen buyer questions from the prompts our AI tracker suggests for your category and market. You see all fifteen in the report, with who each model named and whether it cited your site. Clients in the paid program set their own twenty prompts, fully relevant to their business, and those are the ones tracked month after month.
