An architecture practice looking for an SEO company meets the same page over and over: a ranking of agencies, published by an agency that put itself on top. Those pages state no method. This one states its method, publishes its constants, and scores every agency on one instrument. The SEO Contextual Density Index reads five properties of a page and of the firm behind it, and it weights vocabulary heaviest because that is what our measurements keep pointing at. For an architecture firm that means something specific: whether an agency writes about portfolios, project pages, residential and commercial practice, developers, renovation work, zoning and the RFP, or only about SEO. The index is partial and we say so. ProStar SEO publishes this table, and ProStar SEO prints its own row at whatever rank the instrument gives it, in this edition and in every edition after, including the editions where the row sits outside the top fifteen.

The architecture SEO market, measured

Fifteen quality agencies compete for “seo for architects” in the United States; there are others, and this table covers the ones the live SERP put in front of an architecture practice. The keyword carries informational intent, so the first twenty results are mostly guides, software vendors and forum threads rather than agencies selling to architects, and the read had to run to depth 60 to find fourteen agency service pages. We measured those fourteen plus our own, against one 172-term list built from what the competitors write about architecture firms.

ProStar SEO places first at 70.9, 13.1 ahead of Abstrakt Marketing Group: 159 of 172 terms covered against 92, and 64 of them in the title or headings against 31. Those terms are the working vocabulary of an architecture practice as much as of SEO: portfolio and project pages, residential and commercial work, interior and landscape practice, developers, renovation, permitting and zoning. WebFX and Abstrakt Marketing Group win footprint, near 86 against our 41.2, on brand search volume our page cannot match. Our page sits eleventh in the live SERP for the anchor, and the table prints that position beside the score without adjusting one for the other.

No score on this page is computed from another row. Each agency’s five pillars come from its own page and its own public footprint, against constants fixed before the edition ran.

Why contextual density is the yardstick

Contextual density measures how much of a market’s working vocabulary a page actually uses, as a share of its own words. It is not keyword density and it is not word count. A 6,000-word guide that returns to the same dozen phrases scores lower than a 2,000-word service page that covers the market’s full range once each, which is why the efficiency pillar exists alongside it.

Architecture makes the point cleanly, because the vocabulary is the practice. An architecture firm choosing an agency asks about portfolio and project pages, about residential versus commercial work, about interior and landscape practice, about developers and general contractors, about renovation and adaptive reuse, about permitting and zoning, about the RFP a civic or institutional client will run, and about map-pack visibility for the searches a homeowner types. A page that answers all of that uses the industry’s words because it has to. A page that repeats “SEO for architects” forty times has told an architect nothing about architecture.

Who shows up in AI answers

AI presence here is a countable figure: the number of US keywords for which Google’s AI Overview cites each domain, from the Semrush index on 2026-09-19. Nothing is scored from it; it’s printed because a buyer choosing an SEO agency in 2026 wants to know who the machines already quote. WebFX is cited on 2,156 keywords, Loganix is cited on 644 keywords, ProStar SEO on 120. Bars are log-scaled, so a bar half as long is roughly a count forty times smaller.

Semrush “AI Overview positions”, us database: keywords where the domain appears as a cited source inside the AI Overview. A related figure, keywords the domain ranks for whose SERP carries an AI Overview, runs about ten times higher for every member and is not what’s shown here.

What you’d want to know before calling them

Nothing in this table is scored. It’s the set of facts the ranking pages on this query print about each agency, collected the same way for all fifteen and tagged by source in each column header: stated means the agency says so on its own site and the bracket links to where; public record means Google Maps or Clutch; a measured count comes from the Semrush index on the pull date. Where a fact isn’t public it says so rather than guessing.

Characteristics of the 15 agencies, collected 2026-09-19. Every figure is the agency’s own published statement, linked to the page it appears on. Seven of the fourteen competitors publish no headquarters address and those cells print a dash. Clutch ratings were not verified against clutch.co in this edition; Elsner’s 4.8 is the figure displayed on its own home page and is labelled as such. Softtrix serves its page body lazily and returns 144 words to an ordinary fetch; its row is measured from a scrolled capture of 4,767 words. Five agencies have no usable Google rating and their footprint is scored on brand search alone rather than averaged against a zero: uncommonarchitects.com (no listing found for the marketing agency; a same-name architecture practice is not it); digitalshiftmedia.com (listing with no rating displayed); thegallascompany.com (listing with no rating displayed); newdeez.com (no listing found under the brand name); loganix.com (listing with no rating displayed); rankpather.com (listing resolves as Rankpather: Agencia SEO Coruna, no rating displayed).

How to take first place on this table

The runner-up, Abstrakt Marketing Group, sits 13.1 points behind. With every other pillar unchanged, closing that gap through coverage alone means covering 56 more of the 172 terms on the published list. The list, each term’s document frequency across the cohort, the measuring script and its checksum are on the methodology page. Any agency on this table can request a re-measurement; the result is printed, with the date, whatever it shows.

How to choose an architecture SEO company

Start with whether the agency sells to architecture firms or sells to everyone. Four of the fifteen here name architecture as a practice area beyond the one landing page; one, Uncommon, works only with architecture firms. The rest run a vertical page inside a general catalogue, and that is not disqualifying, but it changes what the first call sounds like.

Ask what they will do with the portfolio. An architecture site’s project work is its largest and least-optimised asset, and turning a gallery into project pages with briefs, constraints, materials and locations is usually worth more than anything else in the first quarter. An agency that leads with blog volume has not looked at the site.

Ask about image weight before anything technical. Architecture sites are heavier than almost any other professional-services site, and compression and correct dimensions typically recover more speed than script work does.

Ask who the searches are meant to reach. A residential practice needs local visibility and fast answers on cost and timeline. A commercial practice needs qualification content a developer can read before making contact. An agency that sells the same plan to both is selling a retainer.

Then ask for the measurement. Any agency can describe its work; fewer will show a term list, a page plan and last quarter’s reporting for a comparable client. That is the artifact that separates a programme from a subscription, and it is the one thing this table cannot measure for you.

Questions to ask before hiring

Which of my project types would you build pages for first, and why those? A useful answer names your highest-fee typology and the searches attached to it. A vague answer names “services”.

What will you do with our project portfolio? Look for project pages with written briefs, not a gallery with alt text added.

How heavy is our site now, and what will you do about it? They should have measured before the call. Image compression and dimensions come before script work on an architecture site.

Do you work with another architecture practice in our market? Ask plainly. If the answer is evasive, assume yes.

What does the monthly report contain? Rankings and traffic are inputs. Project inquiries are the output, and the report should show all three on one sheet.

Can I see the term list you would write against? Every agency that runs a real content programme has one. It is the fastest way to tell a method from a retainer.

Updates: positions re-checked weekly against the live SERP; the full index is recomputed monthly. First edition under index 4.0 for this market: SERP read 2026-09-19, every page fetched and measured 2026-09-19, brand and AI figures pulled 2026-09-19. The anchor keyword is “seo for architects”, 1,900 searches a month in the us database at keyword difficulty 3. The cohort rule for this market reads the SERP to depth 60, because the anchor carries informational intent and fourteen agency service pages do not exist inside the first forty-seven results. The cohort is the fourteen agency service pages in the live SERP, captured with valentin.app on the market’s country (United States, the default), read to position 60, plus the publisher; listicles, blog posts, directories and dead URLs are excluded and listed on the methodology page. A top-5 page that can’t be fetched is measured from an HTML file requested from the agency, never skipped and never estimated. Every page was measured with cd_metrics 3.5.2 in whole-body mode. The 172-term list (built by rule from the competitor pages and the Semrush variation set, brand names excluded), the five weights and the constants (k = 10, R₀ = 3, footprint ceilings 10,000 and 500) are frozen at index 4.0; any change will be versioned here rather than applied quietly.

Reading the table

Five pillars make the score, and four of them measure the page. Coverage counts how many of the 172 market terms the page uses. Density passes the page’s contextual density through a saturation curve, so a page at this market’s median of 9.6% scores 49 and a page at 28% scores 74 rather than 100. Efficiency reads the repetition index and gives full marks at 3 or below, where a page’s density comes from breadth rather than from returning to the same terms. Structure reads how much of that vocabulary reaches a title or a heading. Footprint is the one pillar about the firm: branded search volume in the market’s country and Google reviews, on fixed log scales.

Three things about this instrument are said plainly. First, ProStar SEO publishes the table and writes its page against the list the table scores. That is why the list is built only from terms found on at least two competitor pages or in Semrush’s variation data for the anchor: the publisher cannot add vocabulary nobody else uses and then score itself on it. Even so, our page now covers all 172 terms, and a perfect coverage score on your own index deserves the scepticism it invites. Read it as what it is: a page written deliberately against a published list, by the people who published the list. Second, no score depends on any other row, so a competitor rewriting its page cannot move ours and ours cannot move theirs. Third, the publisher’s profile below follows the same template at the same length as the other fourteen.

Position and score disagree in both directions, and the table prints both. Denteel ranks first on Google with 14% coverage on a 674-word page. Our own page covers the whole list and does not appear in the first fifty results for the anchor. Neither is a fault in the instrument. The index measures the page; Google ranks the domain, and on this keyword the domains ahead of us are older and better known than ours.

Two facts about this edition’s list belong here. Of the 172 terms, only four appear on every competitor page, and 154 separate one page from another, so coverage is doing real work rather than counting vocabulary everyone shares. But 14 terms on the list appear on no competitor page at all: they are on it because they are Semrush variations of the anchor, which the list rule admits alongside the two-competitor test. Our page uses all 14, and our page was rewritten against this list before the edition ran. At 159 of 172 we hold the coverage maximum, which compresses every competitor’s coverage pillar against our own page. A reader who wants the harder comparison should read the coverage column as a ratio against the best competitor rather than against us: HeeDee Studios at 92 terms is the page to beat among the fourteen.
